Lindt Chocolate Museum on Wednesday 16 May when travelling from Neuss to Boppard by train with a stopover at Cologne to visit the museum as it was closed on Monday when we were in Cologne.
There were 3 levels to the museum. The first floor had the story of cocoa growing, transporting and producing it into chocolate. We saw very small cubes of chocolate being produced and wrapped in
gold paper as well as chocolate truffles all by machine.
We got our own block of chocolate made choosing the addition of 3 items from a list of about 20. We choose blueberries, pistachios and mini marshmallows to be added. We saw them making the block and then it set for 30 minutes before being wrapped.
The second floor comprised of antiques from 500 BC and included chocolate vending machines and chocolate drinking pots and cups like a teaset for the richm 19th and 20th centuries.
The third floor was a display of all the wrappers over the years including all the toys from Kinder surprises.
